The Company

The Craft Lager Festival is an annual celebration of lager and small batch beers in Manitou Springs, CO. The festival is two days of beer, music, and a variety of activities. It has gone on for 9 years and continues to gain in popularity every year.

The Challenge

Sandstone Media needed to create a website that captured the personality and atmosphere of the festival. The site also needed to be fully informative for attendees needing directions, description of events, and online ticket sales. It was necessary to ensure event sponsors were well represented without saturating the site with advertisements.

The Solution

Sandstone Media instituted a combination of photo imagery to illustrate the camaraderie of the festival along with punchy copy that placed information at the user's fingertips. The layout relies on simple navigation over multiple pages to provide easy-to-find event information for visitors. Samples of the musical acts were added along with video content so visitors could have an easy preview of festival events.

The Result

A friendly site that highlights information for easy navigation. It balances sponsors and event information by gently accenting the contributions of the sponsors, as well as their products. A voting application was installed where users could give feedback on their favorite brewers, further adding to the community sense of the website. Directions and ticket information were readily available, as well as a schedule of events where visitors could add the festival to their personal calendar.
