The Company

Diego Cana is a blog site dedicated to the adventures (and misadventures) of an undergraduate college student spending a challenging semester abroad in Barcelona. 

The Challenge

To make a striking page that would also allow Diego to easily make updates while traveling. It needed to represent the vision of Diego himself by being challenging and adventurous, willing to take on the world. It also needed to feature user-generated content so that site visitors could comment on blog entries. The intent was not to make just another blog, but a community for the blog author on his travels.

The Solution

Sandstone Media began by constructing a database system that would be capable of handling user-generated content while also filtering out spam and abuse so that only dedicated users could comment. We then used the Drupal interface to devise an update system that would allow Diego to post his activities from anywhere in Barcelona, or anywhere his wanderings took him.

The Result

A highly personal blog that gives a sense of interaction and community. Users are encouraged to comment often and Diego is able to create quality content in real time without the need of extensive technical knowledge. The interface allows for numerous pictures that help visitors feel engaged in every activity. The security protocols also protect the website, Diego, and other users while still making it easy to receive updates and view the stream of information coming from Diego’s time in Barcelona.
